Characters

Here is one set of characters we did by taking Neil's advise and making the characters more appealing through the language of shapes that we discussed in a lecture. We wanted the characters to have more appeal to them so that when the audience views the characters they feel more emotionally engaged into the characters story. Although we had feedback from Hillary and she believes that we need to meet somewhere in between the Woodcut style we had previously worked with that you can see on the bottom and the cartoon style of characters, Hillary would ,like us to work on the characters with a more artistic form.

New storyboards for 3D ending

The black around the edges indicates that we are looking through his perspective.

Some rough planning sketches (Development)

Here are some rough planning sketches of what we are going for in terms of character design for the silhouettes, we will need a full turn around of the boy when hes older for the 3D modelling of him. But the other characters will only have to be drawn once from the side because the animation will take place in after effects and through using the joint tool we can animate the limbs as we see fit. The other sketch is of some thumbnails of the new part of the 3D story board which i will post soon.

More Research and Development

http://vimeo.com/37003223

This link above takes you to a video that shows a patterned way of animating the stairway in the middle sequence that we have just recently changed from waking up and throwing up in the toilet to descending down an abstract stairway into drugs and alcohol.

Research and development (iiiiii)

This group is called 'Attraction' and the won Britain's got talent using shadows of themselves to construct a peice of dance that was beautiful. These are all great examples of the emotional story we are trying to deliver to the audience, even though our piece contains abstract moments we still want the audience to engage with the story.

Another concept image

This is just a concept piece of work and the room wont look exactly like this, but this is just give you some sort of feel as to what it may look like, the floor will be messier and it will look more like a crack house.

Research and development (iiiii)

As i struggle to draw hands this image helped me a lot when it came to volume of drawing the hands for my the 3D storyboard

Some concept work i have done

I started out with the boy at the bottom doing standard painting but then sultan gave me a link to some concept work tutorials and learned new styles as you can see the difference at the top, using different brush tools to achieve the look i wanted.

2D Storyboard panels that i have done.
